Education Is The Passport To The Future -Malcolm X

I chose this painting, 'Black Strokes i' by Wassily Kandinsky because it is filled with bright colors and different shapes. I think this represents knowledge and education well because a synonym for the word ‘education’ is 'enlightenment'. Knowledge is the light of your brain; it is your flip-switch. The spectrum of colors is warm, which give a comforting feeling. Learning is a major part of life. If a New World weren't to have education, then the whole world would be left in the dark.

An ideal New World would be one where everyone is educated. Education is the process of giving and receiving knowledge, developing the skills of logic and analysis and conceptually preparing for developed life. In the present world, many people are uneducated and are left to leaders who don’t necessarily take care of them properly. If a whole world were educated, then it would progress and excel. For example, if the people would want to be scientifically and technologically advanced, structurally organized, or sustainable, then they’d have to know what, how, and why they were doing what they were doing. Education is the only way to do that.
During Global Issues in 7th grade, we learned about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The second most important MDG, after ‘Ending Hunger and Poverty’, was ‘Universal Education’. I agreed with this placement because if people are in poor conditions and have no food to eat, their minds don’t necessarily think sharply. But if the body is nourished, the mind works at a fast pace and functions better. Once those people are fed and taken care of, they can go to school and actually learn and implement what they’ve studied. Their new knowledge can help them take action for their communities.
Without education, the world wouldn’t progress in scientific discoveries, or technological inventions. The world wouldn’t be sustainable or structurally regulated. As Malcolm X states, ‘Education is the passport to the future.’ This means that knowledge is the impetus; without it, there is no future.
